Deep Winter update & new work!

Just started working on the new Quid Quo record - I did a mix of one song and will mix another to see if I will do the whole record. Quid Quo has been around a while and I am fairly certain that this would be their first full length. Check them out on Instagram: quid_quo

I just got back some notes from Witchrat - I am working on their next EP (title unknown, at the moment) and it sounds great! Stoked to be working with these guys on my 3rd release with them. More info soon, as release date goes public. check out Witchrat on Bandcamp.

My good friends in Fotoform sent me a remix of their track, Let’s Shut Out the World, for mastering. Remix is by none other than Seattle’s own, Eric Blood. Pretty rad! Waiting for feedback on drops. Check out Fotoform on Bandcamp.

I am working on a remaster for a new label headed by my good friend Sam Melancon (Debacle Records, MOTOR Collective), called Yield. This release is some dark, vibey techno by D.E. Paige. Just about done with it - sounding really good!

Besides all of this, I successfully made it through another holiday season, and I am ready for more great work in 2023! Please hit me up either here or on Instagram to talk it over! Hope to hear from you.

Updates & more work with Somafree Institute [SFI] bands!

So much is happening!

Some of the Ov Horse Temple demos for William Rage are in the can, pending release.

I remastered the recent Regretski album for vinyl and digital release.

Last week, I mastered Corey Brewer’s original live score for Velvet Vampire, as performed like this. Really cool work. Many cool textures. This will be an SFI release.

In addition, I began work on mixing Timothy Fife’s new record, “Clear Off”. Total Tangerine Dream vibes. Been giving things a weightier, creamier low end and some moving, sparkling tops. I will master the record, as well. Really fun work.

As always, please support these artists.

As spring and summer get underway, I am looking for more mixing and mastering work - no job too small, reasonable rates, great quality! Contact me for more.

New client (sorta): Ov Horse Temple

Yet another record from the studio of William Rage. Special guests include Stan Reed, partner in Blue Sabbath Black Cheer, and long-time Pacific Northwest noise scene member, AJ Lindner. Stoked to be working on this one - sounding pretty heavy! Recommended if you like things like Muslimgauze and Vatican Shadow, but at slower, slow-burn tempos.

Stay tuned for a !MONDO ANTHEM! Bandcamp release and please support!

So much more coming from the mastering desk lately. Keep up with these updates!

New client: Deathcount in Silicon Valley, for SFI Recordings

SFI Recordings, part of the Broken Press / SomaFreeInstitute Recordings moniker is the home of Andrew Crawshaw’s Meridian Arc and other artists. In 2019, I worked on Time Lapse, by Meridian Arc. Andrew contacted me recently for a couple of cassette releases, including that of Deathcount in Silicon Valley. I sure do dig the band name. I have already done an initial pass on this, and it’s sounding good. I like to work these analogue-synth-based releases because the bass can be so solid, so fat. What can I say? I love huge low end.

More soon. In the meantime, please follow these links and please support.

New client: Paurl Walsh, for Debacle Records

Sam Melancon, Debacle Records, and I go way back. In fact, if I recall correctly, it was Sam who was one of my original clients as we begun work on his MOTOR label some years ago. It was through my work with Sam and MOTOR that I really found a place as a mastering person. I was the in-house mastering person for the label; that basically got me started in this line of work. Lots of good work was done with some solid people. Please check it out; I am credited on pretty-much all of these releases.

I am new to Paurl Walsh, but as I read his bio page, I see that I really am not, as I found many familiar band names from the Seattle noise and outsider sounds scene. Paurl’s new record, Pocket Worlds, is a really long journey, mostly via synths and synth textures. Really fun to work on this one. Please check out Paurl’s other work via paurlwalsh.com. As of this writing, I have already made a preliminary drop of the record, so I believe release is pending. Check with Debacle Records for more info.

New client: William Rage’s SOUNDSYSTEM DECONTROL

William and I have been conspiring probably since the spring of this year. It seems that every few weeks or so, I receive a giant WeTransfer of brutal track after brutal track, sometimes in the Coil realm, sometimes in the Techno Animal / Muslimgauze realm, sometimes … who knows. This is an archival project of sorts. I believe it started out as a boxed set of cassettes. I am giving it the treatment for digital release. Low end, low end, low end. Stoked on this.

This is going to take a while. There are three installments, and I have only completed one so far. Sit tight, all, and save your pennies for a subwoofer; you’re going to want to have one.

Please support: !MONDO ANTHEM! Bandcamp and Will Rage Soundcloud.

Return clients: Witchrat

Super happy to be working with Witchrat again. Mastering one song this time, after having mastered druids late last year. I really like what these guys do. One fairly long track with some really cool soaring guitars and vocals. I think you will like this one, too.

UPDATE: Here is the release, the finished product: On a String. Sounds great! Stoked! Please support.

New clients: City of Industry

I received a really nice DM from Ossa, of City of Industry, based here in Seattle. His proposition was really interesting: the band regularly tries working with different people to see where their sound can go and what new things might emerge, to keep creativity at necessary highs. They graciously asked me if I was interested in being one of the mixers for their next round of comp tracks, 7-inches, etc. in some form. Now, Great Falls has played some shows with these guys, and they totally rule. Of course, I am in!

First track is for a compilation, looks like. A track called Tears like Missiles (IG snippet). The sounds were tracked by one of my regular partners: Jeff McNulty, at Killroom in Seattle. So, during this incredibly rare and brutal heatwave that we’ve been having here these past few days, I began shaping and adding things, having been given very liberal parameters by the band - my favorite. And, frankly, the warmer it got here, the angrier and more fucked up I made this mix. Couple more days to submit, then it’s done. I’ll be doing a mastering pass on this, and then on to the next track, called Perspective Pain. Stoked! You will be, too.

As usual! Please support these guys: City of Industry (Bandcamp), City of Industry (Instagram)

New clients: Altaat, via Eiderdown Records

Stoked to have gotten the call for the new Altaat tape - hävittäjä - on Eiderdown Records. A long-form drone and noise release that we’re readying for cassette. Really nice textures that translate really well to loud, with some finer, more subtle passages, as well. A really nice listen.

Some previous Altaat recordings include Altaat and Altaat/Euter split. Have a listen and please support our new friends from Finland!

Great Falls: Eulerian, coming Feb 5!

IMG_5216.jpeg

In addition to the work I do here, I play drums in Great Falls. About a year ago, I remixed a couple of tracks from our last full-length, A Sense of Rest (Throatruiner Records, , Corpseflower Records). These remixes will be released as, Eulerian, on Feb 5, for Bandcamp Friday. The record will be available for digital download, and as this insane piece of vinyl: one sided, two center holes, where the tracks intersect one another. The vinyl was done by vinyl artist, Michael Dixon - check out his work! The packaging is a multiple-layer transparency design, done by Demian Johnston - also incredible. I’m very excited for this work to be out there in the world … where it belongs.

The remixing, mixing, and mastering were all done by me. Please support! Buy HERE!

Return clients: Elkhorn, for Eiderdown Records

I really enjoy working with this label and this band: good peeps, good ideas. I worked on the vinyl version of Elkhorn’s s/t album for Debacle Records in 2017, and here we are again for the vinyl version of Elkhorn’s Lionfish record, on Eiderdown Records. So far, we have had good collaboration on direction & aesthetic, have tried out some things, and this one is shaping up to be rad!

Please visit the various links here and check out what all of these folks are up to! Please support!

New clients: Dining Dead!

I am stoked to be mastering some singles, an EP, and a full-length by Seattle’s Dining Dead. We are really making these good songs come alive. In addition, I am excited to be working on this with my good friend, Jeff McNulty - he tracked and mixed, I’m doing the mastering.

Please visit Dining Dead and check out their stuff! Two of the singles are available to hear right now, with the rest pending over the next month or two. I am excited to see this band live. Anyone remember live shows? Anyone? Sigh.
